The Kanha Tiger Reserve or the Kanha National Park at Mandla District of Madhya Pradesh, received rainfall recently, and as a result the weather became quite pleasant, perfect for tourists to visit there. While enjoying the morning safari at the Mukki Zone, the tourists had the luck to witness three cubs playing with their mother tigress Dhwajhandi. In two shakes of a lamb’s tail, the rare and adorable sight became a star attraction among the visitors, of course with videos going viral.

The videos revealed that the tigress was sitting with her cubs on the road of the national park and the young carnivores playing around her and getting acquainted with the forest province.

The age of the cubs seemed to be around 7-8 months and the tigress Dhawjhandi is around 11 years as stated by the Kanha Tiger Reserve Management. The tigress DJ or Dhwajhandi was originally named as T-27 by the park authorities, but due to her frequent presence in the Dhwajhandi area of the Mukki zone, tourists and the guides prefer calling her Dhwajhandi Female.

Tigress DJ is the first one in Kanha’ history to give birth to five cubs. In 2017 she delivered 4 cubs and in 2019, 3 cubs were reproduced by her. The cubs were seen romping and rollicking fearlessly with their mother around. The delightful incident took place on Wednesday (May 10, 2023), captured in the memories of several mobile phones and cameras.

Tigress DJ has a significant contribution to the tiger population of Kanha Tiger Reserve. These viral three cubs are the offspring from her fourth pregnancy and they are completely of sound health. Credit goes to these cubs for being instrumental in bringing Kanha National Park in the limelight.
